Straight answers on how EXO works, what we cost, and when we are not the right call.
Retained Search uses a standard retainer plus variable structure. A portion is due at engagement, the remainder is tied to milestones and final placement. Direct Hire is contingency only, payable on placement. Advisory is a fixed project fee defined up front. Specific numbers are discussed on the first call once we know the role.
Six to ten weeks from kickoff to signed offer. Faster on roles where we already know the candidate market. Slower when the spec needs to be rebuilt before sourcing begins. We will give you a realistic timeline in the first call, not the one that sounds best.
Nationally. The candidate market for senior A&D leadership is national, often global. We are based in Brighton, Michigan and run searches across the entire DoD supplier ecosystem and commercial space market.
Yes. Most retained engagements involve some level of clearance, from Secret through TS/SCI. We understand the operating constraints, the candidate market dynamics, and how to source without compromising a candidate's current standing.
Yes. We maintain a private network of cleared and uncleared senior leaders. If you would like to be considered for current and future engagements, email Alex directly with your background and what you are open to.
No. We turn down roughly one in three engagements that come through the door. If the candidate market is too thin for the spec, the comp band is too low, or the timeline does not match the realities of the role, we will tell you on the first call. The only way to keep a track record worth quoting is to only take searches we can win.
Yes. Specific terms are defined in each engagement agreement, with typical protection windows running ninety days for retained placements.
Three things. One: every search runs through the founder personally. There is no hand-off. Two: we work in one market, so the candidate relationships and comp data are deeper than at a generalist firm. Three: we say no to roughly a third of what comes through the door. That is not a marketing line. It is how we keep the win rate where it is.
